In this beautiful couch or side table, a petrified wood slice from Indonesia, Java, was set in maple wood by hand. This takes several days to weeks to complete. The petrified wood slice is a deciduous tree, a magnolia about 65 million years old. This wood slice has only been diamond cut, sanded and polished, not painted. It is the original stone surface, which is extremely scratch resistant. All colors are naturally created, nothing has been dyed or treated here. The colors are completely naturally created, by inclusions of iron and manganese. The petrified tree contains all kinds of minerals and quartz gemstones such as agate, jasper, opal, milk opal, carnelian, calcedon, rock crystal, smoky quartz, amethyst as well as calcite.
